In the spring of 1993, four men at Texas Tech University established Kappa
Upsilon Chi, a fraternity based on accountability, prayer, brotherhood
and faith in Jesus Christ. Since the fall of 2005, when KYX was established at Florida State University, we have inducted over forty men into this brotherhood. Our
secondary name Keeping Under Christ defines our mission to minister to
young men at Florida State University, providing fellowship and discipleship
between Christian men from many different denominations and campus
organizations. By blending the close knit brotherhood of a fraternity with the
unshakable faith we hold as brothers in Christ, we form a strong community of
Christian men, seeking to be what the Lord calls us to be. We do this
only with the help of our Savior Jesus Christ, and
intend to glorify Him as we remain unconquered in our faith: "As iron
sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another." - Proverbs 27:17.
Kappa Chi initiated
four new brothers on April 18, 2010. Justin Bruce, Ben Hodge, Levon Hoomes,
and Richard Joyner were pledges this spring, and grew in Christ as they completed all pledge tasks and the pledge test. We are now proud to call them brothers.
We also recognized those gentlemen who will graduate this spring: Adam
Burnside, Stephen Beck, Steven Dolly, Michael Moore and Alan Pyle. We
wish them the best as they move on to the next chapter in their lives. Congratulations!
We inaugurated a new tradition this fall with our first annual Kappa Chi Turkey Fry at FSU. This was a philanthropy to raise money for Blood:Water Mission, a nonprofit started by the Jars of Clay that drills clean water wells for communities in Africa while providing AIDS education. We fried up turkeys on November 21st at the Wesley Foundation, raising $1200 for Blood:Water. Thanks for your support, and we're looking forward to continuing this tradition next year!
Kappa Chi
was proud to initiate ten new brothers on November 22, 2009. Caleb Dulgar, Austin Ensey, Marc Anthony Feliciano, Chad Murray, Daniel Leptrone, Marcus Hanna, Daniel Gilford, Samuel Mwenda and Beau Sullivan spent the whole fall semester as pledges, grew close to the other members of their pledge class as well as the active brothers, and grew in Christ as they completed all pledge tasks and the pledge test. We are now proud to call them brothers, and are excited for the growth and energy they have brought to Kappa Upsilon Chi. They will be vital members of KYX for many years, and we are looking forward to continually sharpening them as brothers in Christ.
We also initiated Mr. Dean Burnside as an honorary brother of Kappa Upsilon Chi. He has been an ardent supporter of our ministry for many years, and has contributed a substantial amount of time and resources toward the success of KYX. We are now honored to call him an official brother of our fraternity. Congratulations!
